Ego and Entheogens in a World Gone Mad

The world has gone mad. The cloud of nuclear Armageddon hangs over us all as war rages on in Ukraine; systemic oppression, locally and globally, can no longer be hidden or denied. Hate, fear and anger have metastasized through our social and political bodies.

It is ego run amok, as politicians the world over vie for power; egos doing anything they can to insure their own survival, operating under the illusion of solidity and permanence, careening toward destruction, willing to take the rest of us along for their deadly ride.

The world cries out for healing; for medicines that can help to lift the veil that has clouded our vision, to reveal our true natures, our energetic connection with all beings, with the cosmos itself; to remind us that what happens anywhere effects what happens everywhere.

And these medicines exist. Gifts of the Great Goddess, Mother Nature, they have been with us from tiime immemorial, preserved by native peoples around the planet; the same peoples subjected to historical genocides by those who now threaten to bring us all down into a man (yes, man) made, fiery hell.

Ayahuasca, psilocybin, wachuma, peyote, 5-MeO and other medicines are available to us all–ego-busting, truth telling substances that let us all in on the great cosmic joke, that we are just shadow boxing our way through life, chasing illusions; that we are simply threads in a universal fabric, born of its energy and into which we will all, in the end, dissolve.

There is a great awakening taking place. Small groups of people everywhere are being initiated into the world of plant and other natural psychedelic/entheogenic medicines; if only our “leaders” would join in. But sadly, they are trapped in their own personal hells, unable to see anything beyond their malignant, egoic reflections.

It is up to each one of us to lead the way; to walk the path of realization. Time may be short, but it is never too late.
